Introduction:

AIMS Test for Management Admission (ATMA) is conducted by  the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) which was formed in 1988 as a network of management schools in the country. AIMS is a national network of over 350 schools. It represents Indian management schools in various national and international forums connected with management education. ATMA is an All-India test which help candidates gain an entry to numerous management institutes in the country depending on their performance. ATMA is held four to five times a year. This year ATMA exam has been conducted in internet-based test mode due to the covid-19 pandemic.

What is ATMA Exam?

AIMS Test for Management Admissions or ATMA is a national-level exam conducted by the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS) for admission to MBA, PGDM, MCA and PGDBA courses. The exam is conducted four times a year. More than 500 management institutes across India accept ATMA scores for admission to their management programmes. The test aims to assess the aptitude of candidates which is necessary for higher management studies.It also helps to apply to top mba programs.

 Important notice:

ATMA 2021 application window has opened for the June session exam on June 1, 2021. The candidates can apply till July 18, 2021. ATMA 2021 (July) will be conducted on July 24, 2021, in the internet-based test mode. The fee payment window will close on July 17, 2021. ATMA 2021 results for the May session were scheduled to be announced on June 5, 2021, but were postponed. The ATMA result for the May session exam has been announced on June 7, 2021. ATMA 2021 (May) was conducted on May 30 and the April exam was conducted on April 25, 2021, and the results for the same were preponed and announced on May 3, 2021. The February session exam was conducted on February 14, 2021, in the internet-based test mode and the ATMA results 2021 were released on February 19, 2021, at 7:00 PM. ATMA question paper will comprise six sections. Questions in the exam will be asked from Analytical Reasoning, Quantitative and Verbal Skills.The test is also a gateway to top mba university and top mba colleges in India.

Eligibility criteria:

The guidelines issued by AIMS in regard to ATMA 2021 Eligibility Criteria to appear in the exam are not much different from other exams:

  • Indian Citizen: An ATMA exam applicant should be an Indian Citizen to be eligible to apply for ATMA exam for MBA admission
  • Recognized Bachelor’s Degree: Determining the ATMA exam eligibility, AIMS have clarified that the candidate should possess a recognized Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification under 10+2+3 scheme in any stream.
  • Minimum 50% Marks: ATMA exam eligibility prescribes that a graduate from any recognized / statutory University with a minimum of 50% marks can apply and appear in ATMA Exam
  • Final Year Students can Apply: As per the ATMA exam eligibility, those who are in their final year of graduation, are also eligible to apply and appear in the ATMA exam.
  • No Age Bar and No Work Experience Required: ATMA Exam Eligibility criteria do not prescribe any Age Bar or any mandatory work experience to apply for the exam.

ATMA May 2021 Exam Pattern: 10 Salient Features

  • Different Format of Exam Pattern: ATMA exam pattern for ATMA May exam has changed. Like MAT which has conducted Internet Based Test from home, ATMA is also conducting AI Auto Proctored Test from the convenience of home.
  • Exam is held in Afternoon: ATMA is one of the very few national exams which are held in the afternoon sessions. ATMA exam in May 2021 and all subsequent ATMA exams will also be held from 2PM to 5PM.
  • All questions are MCQs: All the questions in ATMA exam pattern are of Multiple Choice type (MCQs) with 4 answer options.
  • 180 questions: ATMA 2021 exam, as revealed in the notification also consists of 180 questions divided in 6 sections and is to be attempted in 3 hours.
  • Each Section Split into Two Parts: This is unique about ATMA exam pattern. The composition of the exam is such that the 6 sections cover the questions on 3 sections. The 60 questions on each section are divided into 2 sections. Your ATMA exam preparation for one section therefore, covers the questions in two sections without extra effort.
  • Individually Timed Sections in ATMA Exam: All the 6 sections in ATMA exam pattern are individually timed. A time limit of 30 minutes is prescribed for each section with 30 questions. Candidates cannot skip and go to other section during the time limit specified for the section.
  • Uniform Marking Scheme: For each correct or best answer, you will get a score of +1 mark in ATMA 2021 exam. For any question not answered, a zero score will be given.
  • ¼ Negative Marking: Each wrong answer in ATMA exam attracts 25% negative marking. A deduction of 0.25 mark will be made for each incorrect answer.
  • Moderate Difficulty Exam: ATMA pattern favours a moderate difficulty level instead of high difficulty exam. Barring a few questions, majority of the questions in ATMA exam has moderate difficulty level as against IIMs-CAT and XLRI-XAT exams

ATMA Exam Pattern 2021: Key Changes

In view of Covid 19 pandemic, AIMS is conducting ATMA May 2021 with following key changes:

 

  • ATMA is changed to AI live Human Proctored Test from your home instead of Centre based online test
  • You should appear in Demo Test before the actual ATMA exam from your home to understand the important changes in testing mode and test taking strategy
  • Registered candidates need to login with their PID and Password at official website.
  • Candidates need to make appropriate Computer Arrangements with required browser versions at their home.

ATMA Admit card: Important points to Note

  • You have to carry the hard copy of your ATMA Admit Card to the test Centre. Entry to the Testing Room will not be allowed without ATMA exam hall ticket.
  • Alongwith the ATMA 2021 exam Admit Card, you should carry with you a valid and acceptable photo ID like Aadhar Card, Driving License, Voter Id among others.
  • Please affix your recent photograph on the ATMA Admit Card in the given space. The photograph should be identical to the scanned photo that you uploaded at the time of registration.
  • Read the instructions on ATMA Hall Ticket carefully and follow them.
  • ATMA Admit Card & Exam Dates for Other ATMA Exams .
  • After May 2021 ATMA exam, next ATMA exam is proposed on July 25, 2021. The exam dates have been announced however other important dates and schedule for the exam will be announced as per the prevailing Covid-19 situation.

Section Wise Required Skills to Prepare with ATMA Syllabus for the exam:

There are three major sections in ATMA Exam syllabus. Each of the three sections is further divided into two parts making ATMA exam syllabus defining key topics and questions for six sections.

Section: Analytical Reasoning Skills-1

Number of Questions: 30

Sectional Time Limit to Solve the Questions: 30 minutes.

Expected skills from ATMA Test Takers: Must possess the analytical skills to analyze the situation and arrive at write answers. Expected to answer questions on  Critical Reasoning, Course of Action, Statement-Inference, Strong/Weak Arguments

Section: Verbal Skills-1

Number of questions: 30

Sectional Time Limit to Solve the Questions: 30 minutes

Expected skills from ATMA Test Takers: Must have clarity on English language usage, grammar, vocabulary. Topics covered are Grammar, Jumbled sentences, Vocabulary, RC Passages

Section: Quantitative Skills-1

Number of questions: 30

Expected skills from ATMA Test Takers: With clarity on solving Mathematics & numerical problems, you are expected to face questions on Arithmetic, Algebra, Modern Math

Section: Verbal Skills-2

Number of questions: 30

Time limit: 30 minutes

Expected skills from ATMA Test Takers: It is no different from part-1 of Verbal Skills. You may get more questions on RC passages, vocabulary and verbal reasoning also

Section:  Reasoning Skills-2

Number of questions: 30

Time limit : 30 minutes

Expected skills from ATMA Test Takers:  addition to the topics in part-1, you may expect questions based on  Coding-decoding, Strengthen/Weaken arguments Statement-Conclusion, Arrangements, Syllogisms, Data sufficiency

Section: Quantitative Skills-2

Number of questions: 30

Time limit: 30 minutes

Expected skills from ATMA Test Takers: Questions on Data Interpretation are also placed in this section. Geometry, Modern Math are also major components in this section.

Concession in ATMA Registration Fee:

AIMS has allowed following Fee Concessions in the ATMA 2021 Exam Registration Fee: 

  • 50% Fee Concession is allowed for the Students from North East States
  • 25% Fee Concession is allowed for the Female Candidates
  • ATMA May 2021 Exam Registration and ATMA Application Form can be completed simultaneously or in stages depending upon the availability of time and the information gathered by you.
  • You have to complete the ATMA exam application process online.
  • ATMA exam Registration and ATMA application form can be completed only after making payment of ATMA exam fee.

Important Points to Note for Registration:

If you do not receive the PID through SMS or on Mail, you can search for it at the link ‘Search PID or Password’. It will be available on ATMA website

Please note that for the accuracy of the information provided in the Application Form, you are responsible 

ATMA Registration fee, once paid, is not refundable or transferable to other tests under any circumstances.

ATMA RESULTS:

ATMA Result contains both overall and sectional scores. The ATMA score card consists of sectional scores of all the six sections clubbed into 3 major sections and divided as I and II. The sections are: Verbal Skills; Quantitative Skills; and Analytical Reasoning. Apart from the sectional scores, the ATMA Result reports overall total Score.

ATMA Test takers should download their ATMA exam Result-cum Score Card from official ATMA exam website by using their PID and Password as provided at the time of ATMA exam Registration.
