THE HISTORY OF MAT

The Managerial Ability Test (MAT) has been used to evaluate management aptitude since 1988,  business schools (B-Schools) have used the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) to evaluate candidates for admission to MBA and similar programs. The Indian government’s Ministry of Human Resource Development recognized MAT as a national level test in 2003. Any B-School, national or international, can use the MAT Score as an entrance input based on the Score Cards provided.

MAT Preparation Tips

Candidates need at least six months to prepare for the MAT exam to score well. For fruitful preparation, they should focus on improving their problem-solving skills with the help of previous years’  MAT question papers and online mock tests, etc. The MAT preparation strategy should be well planned and according to the MAT exam pattern and MAT syllabus.

Mode of Examination (How to take the test):

The MAT is a test that candidates can take to see if they are qualified for a position.

(i) Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test (IBT)

(ii) Internet-Based Test (IBT) with double remote proctoring

(iii) A paper-based test (PBT) or a computer-based test (CBT)

(iv) Paper-based test plus remote proctored internet-based test (PBT+IBT)

(v) CBT (Computer Based Test) or

(vi) Computer Based Test (CBT) and Remote Proctored Internet-Based Test (RPT)

Application Procedure:

Register online using a credit card, debit card (ATM card), net banking, UPI, or Paytm Wallet at https://mat.aima.in/. The following are the charges:

  1. Candidates might pay an additional price of 1100/- in addition to 1650/- to take two IBT/PBT+IBT/CBT+IBT tests.
  2. Candidates who take two IBTs/PBT+IBT/CBT+IBT will have the option of choosing an extra two Management Institutes to send their scores to, in addition to the category of choosing five Management Institutes, for a total of seven Management Institutes.

Online Registration:

Documents that must be prepared in advance of online registration: (Detailed procedure is on the website link.)

  1. Valid Email Address
  2. Image of a photograph scanned (10 to 50 kb)
  3. Signature picture scanned ( 5 to 20 kb)
  4. Details of your credit card, debit card (ATM card), or net banking account

MAT Score:

The date of the results announcement is tentatively set for the first week of July 2021.

Admit Card:

As per the timetable stated above, all provisionally registered candidates for IBT must download their Admit Card from the website.

Candidate’s Name, Form No., Roll No., Test Date, Test Time, and Test Venue Address are all listed on the admit card. The candidate must adhere to the date and time specified on the admission card.

Eligibility Criteria for the MAT:

  • The candidate must have earned a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university in any field.
  • Candidates with a professional degree, such as a CA, CS, or ICWA, are also qualified to take the MAT exam.
  • Students in their final year of studies are also able to apply.

To do well on the MAT exam, candidates should prepare for it for at least six months. They should focus on developing their problem-solving skills from past years’ MAT question papers and online practice tests, among other resources, for successful preparation. The MAT study method should be well-thought-out and tailored to the MAT exam structure and syllabus. Here are some MAT exam preparation tips:

Exam Day Procedures for MAT 2021:

  • Candidates taking the MAT May IBT mode should set up a laptop/desktop and test their internet connection at least one hour before the exam time.
  • Candidates should dress formally for the MAT May IBT mode and have their admit card and other documents ready for remote verification.
  • Test takers should arrive at their designated test center for the MAT exam at least an hour before the exam schedules for CBT and PBT modalities.
  • If taking the exam in PBT mode, candidates should bring a blue or black ballpoint pen.
  • Because phones, calculators, electronic watches, and other similar items are prohibited at the exam center, applicants must ensure that they do not bring them on exam day.
  • The MAT admit card, whether digital or hardcopy, will not be accepted.
